Deconstruction

Yesterday I had a meeting with one of my teachers, and we went over my final papers from his classes. He gave me copies covered in handwritten notes, and this is the email I sent to him today:

Hey!

So I can’t make out a few of your comments/questions (ya call that handwriting?!), but I think I got some of the more salient points.
1) Drafting. Yeah, shoulda drafted that stuff. If I had editing notes like yours on my book, it would have radically changed the outcome – which is why I haven’t been excited about my book, lacking that.
2) Presentation. My mom pointed out that I tend to speak and write like whatever I’m saying is God’s Own Capital-T Truth, while it’s actually just an idea I kinda believe. We talked about that briefly, but it seems I can avoid a lot of confusion and appeal to a larger readership by being a tad more humble when I dictate the utter perfection of my genius. (she pointed it out because everyone in my family does it)
3) Audience. I don’t know if this is a complement for you or an insult to the University, but you’re the first teacher I’ve had at MUM who’s held me to a certain degree of academics regarding anything having to do with consciousness or Self. B.S.ing my want through a paper by alluding to a vague Maharishi quote is fairly standard practice, and any SCI point given is accepted without thought. That just caused me to develop all sorts of bad habits when writing papers… but I think I’m in a good position to move to a better level of writing.
Anyway, I’m excited about this coming year! Catch ya later!

In other news, I knocked down the… thing that was on the foundation of the other Eco-Nest.

Ugly

Now it’s just a pile of stuff, which I’m not sure is much better than before, other than it can now be re-absorbed and used for other projects.

Ugly, but usable.

I’m getting some feedback from the video I made for the Board, although I’ve yet to actually hear back from any of the Board members themselves. I still have a lot to learn about interacting with other people. I’ve also been meeting with Ken, and I think we’re getting on track for my final two weeks of internship.
