Board Update

Nicks’ presentation last night was great! The crowd was decent – we could have had a better turnout, but everyone who came was touched and inspired. I’ll try to get a better write-up on my blog.

The big news is that we now have a cat! Martha brought her over the other day – she’s a black and white kitten named Biseka (not sure how to spell it). I went ahead and bought a litter box, some litter and food. She hasn’t been to the vet yet – I’m planning on bringing her over there tomorrow. I can put the fixing/shots/whatever on my credit card for now, but I’d like to get reimbursed for that.

The payout will be in a noticeable decrease in rodents in and outside the SLC – she already caught a vole! However, we’ll have to make sure someone is here to take care of her – I can feed her and clean the litter box during my internship, but someone will have to take care of her after school starts.

Our apparent inability to modify this email list has inspired me to look for a new solution – one that is easy to understand and modify, and retains the basic email function. I’ll start looking at alternatives. It’d be easy to get everyone on Google+, but it’s still in beta and invitations are hard to get sometimes.

We’re in the process of getting bids for our water system and our internal floor – more on that later.

The SLC Barn is, at this point, mostly cleaned and shaped up. We’ve still got some junk lying around, which I need to go through and sort. At some point in the future we’re going to have to get a pickup truck and fill it with junk to take to the dump – not the most sustainable solution, but that this point there’s no other options for some of these things (for instance, the rat-poop-and-pee-soaked mattresses).
